How it works
The rules behind this tool, explained.
Mandatory registration applies when taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 in the previous 12 months, or are expected to exceed it in the next 30 days.
Voluntary registration is possible when taxable supplies, or taxable expenses, exceed AED 187,500.
Once registration is mandatory, you have 30 days to apply. Late registration carries an AED 10,000 penalty.
Common questions
Can't find your answer? Ask us directly.
Do zero-rated sales count toward the threshold?
Yes. Zero-rated supplies, such as many exports, count as taxable supplies. Exempt supplies do not.
Is the AED 375,000 threshold based on the calendar year?
No. It's a rolling 12-month period, so check it at the end of every month.
What does late registration cost?
The administrative penalty for registering late is AED 10,000.
